Janet Botha
Biography
Janet is a MasterCard Foundation (MCF) scholar at the University of Edinburgh pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. Having participated in two infrastructure idea competitions by Bentley Systems and won the Institution of Civil Engineers’ Summer Project 2021, she has become more passionate about addressing challenges in the infrastructure industry. At Oxford, she hopes to investigate how digital innovation and technology can be leveraged to better design and manage infrastructure assets.
Currently, she serves as a committee member for the MCF Women in STEM group, moderating discussions on challenges women face in STEM. Janet values education. She’s a mentor for Our Moon Education, a college-access program, and co-interviewer for HALI-Access Network podcast, advocating for educational opportunities for African youth.
Her hobbies are singing, song writing, guitar and travelling.
