Vighnesh Hampapura
Biography
Having graduated with a BA (Hons.) in English, Vighnesh Hampapura is currently at Ashoka University, writing a senior thesis on modern Indian drama. His studies have been driven by questions about genres of literature, cultural flow and exchange, gendering, trauma, and sexuality. His archival research about the theatre repertory Rangayana at Sahapedia, or his conceptualization of a Karnatik recital, Religious Rebels, illustrates his academic engagement with the artforms that nourish him. As a translator, he has rendered into English Vasudhendra's short stories, slated for publication from Penguin Random House in 2021. Apart from composing fiction, Vighnesh occasionally writes as literary journalist for Scroll.in. He strives to teach reading and astute judgement via the humanities to different demographics.
