Nanak Narulla
Biography
Nanak is a climate and environmental lawyer, who graduated from the University of New South Wales as Valedictorian of the Bachelor of Laws (Hons)/Bachelor of Arts (International Relations). Nanak has worked as a refugee legal advocate on Manus Island, Papua New Guinea, in human rights law at Zhicheng Public Interest Lawyers in Beijing, and in the area of First Nations and native title law at Miriuwung Gajerrong Corporation in Australia. He has published widely in the areas of human rights and environmental law, and enjoyed success in advocacy competitions in New York, Vienna and Paris, including winning the ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition. An accredited mediator and Fellow of the Centre for Sustainability Leadership, Nanak cares deeply about climate justice and has most recently practiced in climate change litigation at the Environmental Defenders Office and as a public sector management consultant working in energy policy. At Oxford, he intends to continue his work at the intersection of climate justice, strategic litigation, and environmental policy. In his spare time, Nanak is an avid cook, volunteer surf life saver, and enjoys football and surfing.
