Biography
Haroon Avgana got his Bachelor’s in Psychology and English Literature at the university of Haifa. He is passionate about psychedelics and their potential as therapeutic tools for treating psychological disorders. Focusing on the biological aspect of these drugs, Haroon is doing his master’s thesis on the brain mechanisms underlying MDMA’s therapeutic effects in PTSD. He is also interested in group conflict and in effective strategies for reducing in-group and out-group thinking. Following this interest, he served as a coordinator in a social organization that connects Israeli Arab and Jewish students. At Oxford, Haroon intends to join the four-year DPhil program in Neuroscience and continue his research in psychedelics.
